About Us

The school is an RYA recognised training centre for Power and Motor Cruising, teaching people to skipper boats with confidence. We provide tuition on our own school boats or on your own boat. Our mission is to promote safety for all who put to sea or spend time on or near the water. This will be achieved by the highest quality training to RYA standards and will be backed up by the use of skilled tutors and instructors personally selected by the principal for their skill, knowledge, integrity and enthusiasm.

All students who attend the school will be treated in a polite, courteous and friendly manner. They will be encouraged to study and learn through the personal leadership of their appointed instructor, who will be expected to make the learning process enjoyable. At the end of their course all students will leave with the skills and knowledge that the course intended, and to have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is hoped that this in turn will encourage them into putting their new skills into practice and further their learning on more advanced RYA courses.

The school principal is Robert Harris who has been living and boating in the Algarve for the past 5 years, born in Dublin, Ireland in 1970 he is an easy going and friendly person.

We provide testing for motor cruisers and power boats, allowing people to obtain a driving licence for the sea. A licence is necessary when chartering a vessel or when driving your own boat in most non UK and Ireland countries.

We do not have recognition to run RYA courses for sailing, however we do provide tuition specific to clients needs. If you wish to take a specific course we are more than happy to recommend several sailing schools here in the Algarve.

Considering buying your first yacht, it can be a big help to have someone there who knows a bit about boats!! We help people to decide on what type of boat is best for them and give information on the real cost of owning a boat. We will help you short list some options and join you on your inspection, pointing out positive and negative aspects of each vessel.
